Red-ring only happens to those who are too stupid to ventilate/care for their electronics properly.
And at less than $3/month I'd say it's a pretty price to pay to have everything at my hands while I game, Netflix, Last FM, Facebook, etc while not having to worry about viruses, spyware and/or hardware slowing down my experience. :)

Using a Mac, FTL.
I have a PS3, Xbox 360 and a PC. The 360 gets 10X the amount of playtime because of the multitude of games and amount of people playing at any given time. Plus, it's more funner. :P

yah I have all the gaming systems, and I use the PS3 for a blu ray player mostly. GOW3 is good, but that's about it. Killzone 2 was good but I can't stand the PSN...

Re: Red Ring: Fair enough. Plenty of idiots out there that lodge their game systems into closed stereo cupboards and overheat them.
Re: Everything at hand: I have everything at hand on my computer too, without worry of viruses and such. I suppose hardware is a consideration, but any decent PC nowadays has better hardware than the 360, so a cross-platform game would be even better on a PC. Plus, user-made mods for PCs pretty much blow console DLC out of the water. Cost: $0.

Dual-boot FTW, son! Mac-side gaming is pretty much World of Warcraft (when I played it). Windows-side is everything else. And both have Ventrillo and Teamspeak. Tons of people out there. Also, my Mac has better hardware specs than your 360.

My PS3 is a Blu-Ray/DVD player and a media player for content I stream to it from my Mac. I almost never play games on it anymore.
My Wii is played moreso... but more for the retro WiiWare/VC games.
I guess I am still old school and prefer gaming on computers. Been that way since the 90s... FPSes are so much better with a keyboard and mouse, as well as MMOs and such.
I suppose if someone didn't have a PC, a 360 (or a PS3) would be an excellent alternative, but by no means a substitute.

Unfortunately for your theory, Vandil, most people who have a 360 or PS3 and a PC use the PC as a substitute.
