In Japan, there was a game for the Turbo Duo Super CD 3.0 System (TurboGrafix 16 in the US) called Castlevania - The Rondo of Blood (http://www.castlevaniadungeon.net/Games/rondo.html).
It was essentially the pinnacle of 16bit, 2D Castlevania gaming. It's also the prequel game for the PS1 smash hit "Castlevania - Symphony of the Night (http://www.castlevaniadungeon.net/Games/sotn.html)".
While Konami did release a butchered and drastically altered "Dracula X (http://www.castlevaniadungeon.net/Games/dxx.html)" game for the SNES, it was almost nothing like Rondo of Blood.
PSP owners may have played Rondo of Blood when it came out on a UMD disc (http://www.castlevaniadungeon.net/Games/dxc.html) with "Symphony of the Night" a few years ago.
Anyway, the real Japanese Rondo of Blood is available on the Wii Virtual Console this week for 900 Wii Points ($9) and is well worth picking up.
It is an absolutely fucking awesome game.
